Bangladesh Community Club in Maldives:

Bangladesh Community Club in Maldives:

A Bangladeshi Community Club is going to be established in Male’, Maldives under the supervision of the High Commission of Bangladesh to undertake some welfare activities for Bangladeshi expatriates. It was founded that the Bangladeshi Community in Male’ are loosely bounded. They remain isolated and are not well connected. They are also not aware of the activities of the High Commission. In order to improve their condition they are needed to be more organized and have some awareness about their rights and privileges. A suitable welfare organization with support of the High Commission may be an appropriate platform to look after the welfare of all the Bangladeshi expatriates.

A Bangladeshi Community Club may be such a platform which can organize the Bangladeshi expatriates at Maldives. The club can undertake some welfare activities like conducting evening classes on English, Computer Operation, legal issues related to Immigration and Employment Act and organizing some sporting events. The proposed club will register members who will be Bangladeshi expatriates. The club will act as a medium to keep Bangladeshi expatriates connected to the Government of Bangladesh through the High Commission. The club can also be used to celebrate the important days of Bangladesh (Independence Day, Victory Day, etc). In future a Bangladesh Cultural Centre can spring up from this Community Club.
In line with that view, a 12 (Twelve) members Ad hoc committee is formed to facilitate the establishment of the community club. HE High Commissioner is the Chairman and First Secretary (Labour) is the Member Secretary of the present committee. The first meeting of the Ad hoc committee was held on 22 May 2015 at the High Commission.
